I started my small business in January of 2023, and have been selling my handmade products at creator markets across Southern Ontario ever since.
I started the business selling hand-crocheted products, with patterns that I designed and promoted myself. I learned a lot about entrepreneurial ventures in creative communities through my brand marketing and promotion, creation of an extensive client list, social media marketing, and staging of product photos.
Social media marketing & Product photos
One of the biggest ways that I’ve been able to engage with my customers and build a following was through my Instagram account, for which I designed my logo, highlight covers, product photos, and different visual elements used across my promotional posts. I designed an extensive style guide which outlined specific colour palettes, font styles, and my preferences for natural product photos in outdoor settings, making product photos feel more personal. All of my logos and vector graphics were done using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Express.
