About… Me!

Hi! I’m Katie McLean, a second year student at the University of Waterloo studying Global Business and Digital Arts. I’m an avid learner and creative soul, always looking for new opportunities.

While I’m proud of how I’ve been able to develop my skills through my academics, I’m equally confident in how I’ve learned and applied those skills in my personal life, passion projects and hobbies.

From building my business Skatie’s Skraps from the ground up, providing marketing services for local non-profit organizations, and working with the Government of Ontario as a UX design and marketing assistant, I’m proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish so far.

I’m a hard worker and I try to approach everything I do with confidence. I’ve been playing full-contact roller derby since I was nine years old, and in 2023 I had the opportunity to compete with Team Canada Junior Roller Derby at the World Cup in France. This was a feat that I’m extremely proud of, and is a perfect example of how I’ve applied self-control, commitment and perseverance outside of my professional and academic work.

I’m excited to continue to develop these skills and more, and to see what’s next!
