Government of Ontario
I worked with the government of Ontario during the summer of 2025. It gave me the opportunity to work firsthand with UX research and design processes, Search Engine Optimization projects, and internal governmental procedures. I had the opportunity to review Google Analytics data, and direct client complaints to analyze consumer pain points, then create project plans for how to solve those problems.
I created mockups of various site redesign styles at different fidelity levels, while following a strict style guide and design system. Then, I pitched site redesign mockups to UX design vendors based out of the UK, and received real-time professional feedback on my work.
UX design + research & style guide development
deliverable 1:
site navigation redesign
Problem
Busy navigation bar within some of the crops once selected (as pictured below).
Concerns that the imagery wasn’t consistent between the homepage (second image) and the secondary navigation tabs.
Solution
Redesign that mimics the image style and layout of the main page, instead of excessive tabs.
Once a sub-category was selected, navigation tabs are available at the top, but they were condensed based on user data to prioritize the most used topics.
Results
Made navigation more intuitive, and ensured consistent imagery.
After small modifications following user testing, my design was implemented on the main site.
I received glowing reviews and helpful analyses from UX design and site design vendors from Zengenti, based in the UK.
deliverable 2:
cropHUB banner designs
Problem
There were disputes among researchers that the previous site cover didn’t highlight enough OPS crop types, which researchers felt made it non-reflective of the organization’s various roles.
Solution
New site banner that maintains the green overlay, but shortens the title and incorporates imagery that’s reflective of
Results
Produced multiple iterations, some with real royalty-free images of different Ontario crops (top left), and vector graphic versions (final version - top right).
deliverable 3:
Icon x design element drive
Problem
OMAFRA researchers were making slideshows using copyrighted images or elements not approves by the Ontario Public Service, but didn’t have an easy way to access approved elements.
Solution
A complete drive of easily accessible icons, approved slideshow templates, OMAFRA approved style guide and colour palettes, and design elements.
Make everything accessible and compatible with updated technology to make design easy for non-designers.
Results
24 slideshow templates -12 OPS colour palettes: standard and widescreen.
Set of 24 Illustrator vector graphics in 12 different colours, and a full-colour version.
Design elements & style guide reference sheet shared with OPS researchers.
